UC Live! & STRANGEWAYS DJS present... SHAKE IT (like a polaroid picture!) - a celebration of Canberra's nightlife in the 2000s!

You're young and you're in post-millennium Canberra. You turn 18. For a while, going out here means little more than Mooseheads and a few lonely (if talented) buskers.

But then, slowly - through friends, or perhaps an older brother or sister - you discover Canberra's true night life: a thriving scene of music lovers, DJs and promoters running big nights in small spaces. Together you run the gauntlet of musical trends, breakups, venue closures and hangovers.

Friends: you may have grown a little since then (our beloved hometown is 100 this year, after all), but SATURDAY 16 NOVEMBER is your chance to relive every dancefloor memory with the cream of Canberra's DJ nights of the noughties!

DJs LITHIUM JAY and LITHIUM MICHAEL, from Canberra's most legendary alternative night, will return to the decks for the first time since TOAST closed. Think BLUR meets THE PRODIGY… POP WILL EAT ITSELF!

Flying the flag for Canberra's hardest working dance night, original PANG! resident OFFTAPIA will drop a set of premium 2000S ELECTRO, recalling the glory days of LOT 33.

Where would any beats night in Canberra be without UG BEATS? Simply the best at keepin' it one hunned, founder ALISTAIR ERSKINE will be cutting ELECTIC HIP HOP TINGS & TEMPOS.

REV may have had the best funeral ever… but founder ALEXISALEX and long time resident RADAR are gonna revive that indie renaissance with back to back, post-Y2K INDIE JAMS!

Ambitious, impulsive and extremely DIY… STRANGEWAYS DJS will roll deep and close out with a set of EXCLUSIVE, NEXT-LEVEL MASHUPS and VIP bassy classics.

What's that DRAPHT you can feel blowing across the (FRANK) OCEAN, over the WAVVES of Lake Burley Griffin and into THE NATIONAL Captial? Why, it's the return of the incomparable SPLENDOUR IN THE BAR!

In this, its fifth year, of course you'll see the return of the famous SYNTHETIC GRASS DANCEFLOOR… but we've delved deeper into the world OF MONSTERS AND MEN (and BOYS & BEARS) than ever before to bring you a true POLYPHONIC SPREE: it's A SPLENDOUR MINI FESTIVAL (from 8pm)! Featuring COLD WAR (KIDS) defectors STRANGEWYS + the JUNGLE GIANTS of Canberra: #GRLPWR, JK ROLLIN', RADAR, BAMBII, ARCHITECT DJS, NEONBOMBS and PELVIC.

Come midnight, STRANGEWAYS DJS will drop a SERIES OF MINI-SETS from the top SPLENDOUR HEADLINERS… that's HALF AN HOUR OF (PORTUGAL) THE MAN himself, FRANK OCEAN - plus the best of the rest: PASSION PIT, JAMES BLAKE, PRESETS, FLUME (and whatsonot…).

Canberra Peeps!

We'll take a short break from working on the next Melbourne Sound compilation to present to you some exciting news:

Get ready to witness the greatest thing to hit Canberra since Kanye cloned himself five times & played at Transit Bar for free!

On Friday the 4th of October London production duo Disclosure, as well as Aluna George, Duke Dumont and Canberra locals Safia will be playing a massive gig courtesy of Kicks Entertainment, UC Live!, Party By Jake & triple j.
